FastEstimate gives you two ways to get the sketch and line items into Xactimate. We recommend the auto-export workflow whenever it’s available — it’s faster and skips most of the manual steps.
Option 1 (Recommended): Auto-export to your Xactimate project
With auto-export, the sketch and line items you’ve built in FastEstimate get pushed directly to your existing project in Xactimate.
Before you start: make sure you sent SeekNow the assignment for this claim through the “Export To” functionality in XactAnalysis. Without that, auto-export won’t have a project to push to.
When you’re done building your scope in FastEstimate:
- Click the “Send to Xactimate” button in FastEstimate.
- Open your project in Xactimate.
- Navigate to “Sketch,” then click the small yellow box that lets you import the sketch.
- Once the sketch is imported, navigate to “Estimate Items” — you’ll find every line item there.
Option 2: Download an ESX file
If auto-export isn’t a fit, you can always download an ESX file from FastEstimate. This option is available on every claim, but it does require a few extra clicks in Xactimate.
After you click “Download ESX” in FastEstimate:
- Drag and drop the ESX file into Xactimate.
- Open the new project in Xactimate.
- Set the location and tax jurisdiction. This step is important — if you skip it, your line items won’t appear in Xactimate.
- Navigate to “Sketch,” then click the small yellow box that lets you import the sketch.
- Once the sketch is imported, navigate to “Estimate Items” to see all line items.
Copy-pasting the sketch and line items to a different Xactimate project
If you need to move the sketch and line items into a different project than the one FastEstimate created, you can copy them over:
- In Xactimate, open the FastEstimate project and navigate to “Sketch.”
- Hover over the center of the sketch, right-click, and select Copy.
- Open the destination project in Xactimate.
- Navigate to “Sketch” and create an “Exterior” tab by right-clicking on the tabs.
- Right-click in the empty space and select Paste. Your sketch and all line items will appear in the new project.
